Reflection: John the Baptist was Jesus' cousin. God chose him to tell the people about Jesus. John wanted people to know that Jesus was the Son of God, the saviour that God had promised the people so many years ago. He wanted them to be ready to believe in Jesus. To help people remember God and God’s promise, John baptized them in the river. The baptisms reminded them that God is a loving and forgiving God.
Discussion: How can we help other people open their hearts to God? [Hint: Perhaps one of the best ways is to lead by example. If we keep the love of God in our hearts and use that love to help and be kind those around us, they will be encouraged to do the same!]
To Do: Locate the shell (labelled #16) in the Advent Calendar Symbols document. Cut out and colour the symbol. Paste it onto your Jesse Tree.
