Anthony was born in Lisbon, Portugal, but he was known as Saint Anthony of Padua, which is a city in Italy, where he lived and preached for many years. At the age of 23, he was inspired by St. Francis of Assisi and joined the Franciscans. Francis sent him to Northern Italy, to Bologna and Padua to teach and preach about the Good News of Jesus. He was an inspiring speaker and huge crowds came to listen to him. Even after he died, many people continued to ask for his help, especially when they needed help finding something that they had lost. Even today, he is a much-loved saint.
